I spent the past week speaking at a camp in northern CA. As always, I was humbled and honored to be put in such a position.
At the end of the week, after all the events and lessons were done, the students and staff sat together around a fire and reflected on what the Lord had spoken into their…
This is an invitation to tangibly partner with us in beginning two missional gospel-centered church communities.
Redeeming Grace Communities Support Letter
Greetings from the El Granada Forbes clan. As I write this I can look out over the beautiful Pacific Ocean on a clear winter day. We are thankful for the opportunity to be here and to be a part of God’s plan for the coast.
I am writing you because I want to share a new adventure we are going on and to invite you to join us. In the Great Commission that Jesus gives His disciples, He starts out, “Go therefore…” In other words, the action is to go. We are to go and make disciples. We believe that is what God has called us to go and do. We have met an awesome family in neighboring Pacifica that shares the same conviction. We are teaming to begin two missional gospel-centered church communities, first in Pacifica and then in the northern Half Moon Bay area. We are functioning as missionaries to an area that is one of the most unchurched/de-churched areas in the country.
We ask you to consider joining us. There are three tangible ways to do that. The first and most important is prayer. Prayer is the most important aspect of our endeavor. John Piper does an excellent job summarizing the importance of prayer:
“Now we can say again, safely and stunningly, what the awesome place of prayer is in the purpose of God to fill the earth with his glory. Not only has God made the accomplishment of his purposes hang on the preaching of the Word; he has also made the success of that preaching hang on prayer. God’s goal to be glorified will not succeed without the powerful proclamation of the gospel. And that gospel will not be proclaimed in power to all nations without the prevailing, earnest, faith–filled prayers of God’s people. This is the awesome place of prayer in the purpose of God for the world. That purpose won’t happen without prayer.” John Piper, Let the Nations be Glad
Therefore, we are asking our friends to commit to pray for us in this work of being a church community that proclaims the gospel with not only our words but especially our lives. See http://bit.ly/5n3UvB as a model of Kingdom-centered prayer. Specifically, you can tangibly partner by praying daily and weekly in these areas:
- That we will honor Christ in all we do.
- That God the Holy Spirit will give us discernment to contextualize the message of the gospel for the city of Pacifica and beyond.
- That we will live like we know and believe the gospel.
- That we will acknowledge our need of the gospel and find our hope in the gospel everyday.
- That Christ will use us to advance Christ’s kingdom in the cities of Pacifica, HMB and beyond
- That we will model Jesus as we live our lives.
- That we will rely upon God the Holy Spirit.
- That Christians and not yet Christians will be transformed by the gospel.
- That we will be about Jesus, about people, and about renewal.
- That our necessary financial provisions be met as we plant and God grows these churches
The second is people. The church is people and we need people who can teach and model gospel-centered living. You can tangibly partner with us by joining in this mission.
The third is provision. Not only will we expect 100% of our church families to participate financially, we will need regular giving by those who desire to partner with us in this way. To see the financial need and examples of regular giving, please see the brochure andprospectus at www.vintagegracecommunities.org.
Please prayerfully consider partnering with us and fill out the support form. We will add you to our newsletter list so we can let you know how your partnership is building Christ’s kingdom.
For Him,
Craig Forbes
